Getting lost in the grind of life, we can sometimes forget to recognize the little things that bring us happiness.

I mean, hell, I have a toddler and a preschooler who are loud as freaking hell from the second they wake up until the second they go to bed at night, destroy my house literally as I’m cleaning it, wake me up all night long and then get up for the day at freaking 5:15 AM every. single. morning.

The Hubs and I are in marriage counseling because we are going through a rough patch. (PS…Even if you aren’t going through hard times with your partner, try out marriage counseling! It’s seriously amazing and totally eye-opening for your relationship.)

I have extreme Anxiety (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and it affects my everyday life, relationship, and my parenting. (But I’m working on it!)

I’m still 30 lbs heavier than I was before having kids. (Yep, I’ve gained 10 more lbs since writing my post Fat and Happy. Super awesome.)

But I have decided, with the new year of 2019, I am NOT going to dwell on life’s negatives.

Because here’s the thing, guys… there will ALWAYS be something negative going on. There will aways be something that happens that makes you unhappy.

That’s just a part of life.

But…

We have 2 choices:

#1 – Play the victim card, dwell on the negatives, and “oh, woe is me…everyone feel sorry for me” while constantly bringing others’ moods down along with our “Eeyore cloud” of an attitude.

OR…

#2 – Acknowledge what just upset you, be unhappy about it for a healthy amount of time, stand yourself back up, and open your eyes to the overwhelming amount of happiness surrounding you.

Choose to have a negative attitude OR choose to see the good and find happiness. The choice is yours. Click to get your FREE "My Daily Gratitude" Printable worksheet! #happy #happiness #positive

Because it really is overwhelming, my friend.

Which will you choose?

There are so many good, simple things that happen throughout our day. We just need to make the choice to notice them and let that positive energy absorb into our souls!

People tend to wallow unhealthily in unhappiness. They wrap up in it like a warm blanket because they think it will help them or bring them comfort. The problem is that they fester in the realm of unhappiness for too long and lose track of where happiness really lies and then depression sets in. You are spot on about not playing a victim with seeks attention to add to that “warm blanket” and instead address the root cause of an issue head on and move on back into the realm of happiness. I choose happiness too so it’s great to see there are others out there welcoming happiness and positivity.

Yes, absolutely. I can attest to everything you said because I once festered far too long and spiraled into depression. Luckily, I eventually dug myself out (very difficult, but can be done!).

Negativity and unhappiness are easy. It’s much easier to play the “blame game” and complain about how much isn’t going right in life. Choosing happiness takes effort, which is why a lot of us take the former route. But, as you mentioned, if we take that easy route for too long then we become used to it and then suffer from tunnel vision – all things happy that surround us are completely overlooked and ignored.
